We’re excited to announce the launch of the refreshed ICE website, designed to make it easier to explore our chemical emergency response initiative.

News

For over 25 years, ICE – Intervention in Chemical Emergencies, an initiative of Cefic – has supported emergency responders across Europe during chemical transport incidents. Our new website showcases how ICE provides expert guidance, product-specific information, and on-site assistance to protect people and the environment.

“Safety, collaboration, and preparedness are at the core of ICE. Our new website reflects our ongoing commitment to supporting emergency responders with reliable, expert guidance whenever and wherever it is needed”, said Joost Naessens, HSE, Responsable Care and Supply Chain, Cefic Director Transport & Logistics.

What’s new:

· New design and look & feel: A modern, user-friendly interface for easier navigation.

· New logo: Reflecting ICE’s mission and identity.

· Programme overview: How ICE supports you - Explore our cooperative approach, support levels, and partnerships.

· National centres: Learn about our network of 24/7 expert hubs across Europe.

· Case studies: Explore real-life incidents where ICE made a difference.

· News & events: Stay updated on trainings, exercises, and important announcements.

ICE operates through a three-level support system:

1. Substance Information: Remote guidance via phone or email.

2. Expert Contact: On-site advice from trained specialists.

3. Intervention Teams & Equipment: Direct assistance with personnel and resources.

ICE continues to grow through the collaboration of Cefic, the BASF Site Emergency Response Team (SERT), and the Emergency Response Coordination Centre (ERCC) under the European Commission’s DG ECHO. Initiated in March 2025, this partnership strengthens ICE’s capacity to respond rapidly and effectively to chemical emergencies.
